Got this to mount my Samsung P2570 which weighs 12.8 lbs. Holds it up fine (at least now it does) but the vertical support for the TV is worthless. Luckily the edge of my TV is next to the wall for the best viewing. Without the edge of the TV touching the wall the vertical support just plain out flops down. Tightening the screw does nothing. Seems as if it is stripped out. Been this way since I took it out of the box and mounted it. Looks like I'll bite the bullet on this one, and get a different better one. This will probably work well for lighter TV's. Anything heavier then 10 lbs.........forget it. It's junk. Look elsewhere on amazon. Only reason it gets 2 stars is because it actually the TV up (well kinda).

I got this monitor used to replace my Dell 2001FP. This monitor has very accurate colors (just like the Dell) but the contrast and color saturation is much much better. The one I have is actually a refurbished. I prefer the refurbished b/c it probably has manufactering issues hammered out. Apple is know for their excellent refurbished monitors.

I have had no problems with the monitor but I recommend Applecare for all Apple products. In the even your product fails you will get great service.

I've been using this monitor for about 10 months now and have nothing bad to say about it. I've used its digital connection on a mid-range AGP Nvidia GeForce graphics card and had very nice performance, and "identical" performance using the analog connection to a low-end integrated ATI Radeon X200 adapter.
What makes this monitor different?:
(1) Its looks--you either like the different look or you don't.
(2) Its XBRITE "glossy" screen--I like the glossy screen, but I imagine some would not. To me, it adds a crispness and realism to the image that is not there on the run-of-the-mill monitor. The downside is that the screen is more prone to glare, so one must take care with placement of the monitor. That is, do not have the screen facing a window or bright lamp. I recommend checking out the monitor at a in-store display before buying so you can see the "glossy" effect for yourself.
(3) Its price--Sonys are expensive, but I think it is worth it as long as you plan to use it for a few years.

Will Not Be Supported By Win 7 - Dolce P - USA
I just started having issues with this monitor that I have been in love with for 4 years. As I was doing inquiries and troubleshooting, I thought I would check to see if I could update the drivers since I have recently migrated my new system to Win 7. In two emails that I have received from Sony's Esupport system, they have stated that they will not be creating drivers for this monitor to work with Win 7. This is the wording from the second email I received to double check that they were NOT working on driver's for Win 7 compatibility.

"I understand that you wish to use the Monitor in Windows 7 Operating System. I'm sorry to inform you that the Monitor doesn't support the Windows 7 Operating System. Since Sony discontinued the product, the Drivers for Windows 7 may not be available. I suggest that you use the Monitor with the Supported Operating System to regain the full functionality. Please check the link provided in the previous response for supported Operating System.

The picture quality is exactly what you expect from Sony...outstanding. I purchased this monitor six months ago thru Amazon and have been very pleased with the display except for the screen turning off intermittantly(lasted a few seconds). Last week the monitor would not power on. I called the Sony toll free service number and four days later I received a replacement(factory refurbished) via UPS with a prepaid shipping lable for return of the defective unit. The new display looks and functions brand new. The warranty service provided was the best I have ever experienced.

My Experience - Hersing -
For the first three months, I was extremely happy with my purchase. The quality of screen display was excellent. Unfortunately, after 3 months of use, the monitor started randomly turning off and on during use. This could happen anytime and continue up to eight times in a row. I sent the monitor for warranty repair and was told that the main board needs to be replaced with a turnaround time of one week. It has been over three weeks and now I am informed that Sony had sent the wrong parts and I will have to wait. It is very annoying to pay a Sony price premium and experience the problems that I have encountered. Sony has lost the trust and custom of my family. You may wish to read the feedback of R.V.Hatcher who has experienced similar Sony monitor quality and service problems. HP W2007 20-inch Widescreen Flat Panel LCD Monitor Review

I own three of these monitors. That tells you just how much I like this product. The monitors are very bright, the colors are very vivid. They were very easy to assemble (basically this is attaching the base). All three of mine came with both DVI, VGA & sound cables. The built in speakers are clear, but not very loud even at full volume. I do wish that you could adjust the height of the monitor, not just the viewing angle. Other reviews have mentioned the base. I haven't had any real problems with stability, but I do wish that that the base was more substantial.

One is attached to a Mac Mini. I did have some problems getting the Mac to work with this monitor. I ended up having to use the VGA connection along with the Apple supplied VGA to DVI adaptor. I also had to download a piece of shareware software in order to get the Mac to run at 1680 x 1050. This is one of the reasons I gave the device four stars instead of five.

The other two monitors are attached to a KVM switch that supports dual monitors. Thru the switch the monitors are connected to a HP laptop that runs Windows Vista and a HP desktop that runs Windows XP. I haven't had any problems toggling between the two devices.

I've had two of these monitors for about 1 year, the other for only about two months. The price has dropped about 20% during that period. If it would get to about 5 I'd add another star to my review.

In summary, I think this is a good product and good value.

A pretty cheap monitor that works pretty well. However, because of the unusual resolution for its size, if you want to get an identical second monitor (as I did), you might have to get the same one.

Please do not buy this monitor, if you want to use this monitor for more than one year because it will die after one year and the factory warranty lasts only a year. There are many monitors that come with 3 year warranty in the market, you are better off buying one of those monitors. My monitor doesn't get any power so I have to buy a new one as it is cheaper to buy one than fixing the existing one. The CRT I had worked well till I got rid of it for this one, I shouldn't have done that. Good luck to those who are still willing to buy this product.

After all the positive reviews, I decided I couldn't go wrong with this monitor. Unfortunately I never got past trying to move the neck on the monitor so that I could slide it into the stand. It wouldn't move! The instructions were very clear but it was stuck solid. I tried forcing it until I felt it could break off. I looked for a button, or a switch - something to allow the neck to swing up. Nada! I even emailed HP customer service and they admitted that I should return it. I don't know if I want to try again.

If you're doing your research on what size and brand to buy, don't pass this one up. It's stunning, sleek and slim, a perfect fit.

I recently bought a mattress and was given a gift card to buy a flat panel tv from a computer store in FL. Instead, I decided on getting a new monitor since my old one died on me after 5 years. After spending a week or so on researching, I decided on this Dell monitor. At that time, I only saw 1 review. They gave it a 5. I was suspicious only because no one else had bought it or at least hadn't given a review. I wanted to know the good and bad. Dell hasn't failed me so I went ahead and ordered it.

As soon as it arrived at my door, I was kind of scared. It was a very light box. Compared to my old monitor, it was a feather. When you open the box, you'll love it. I hooked it up to my pc and it took two start ups for my Windows 7 to recognize the change. As a temporary replacement for my broken monitor, I was using an E Machines 15 inch monitor. If you have this same problem, don't worry, let your computer set it up and you might need to shut down and start back up after a few minutes. After that, no worries.

Start up/Setup - Easy. The stand is easy to attach and the screen tilts smoothly. Might need to restart if your computer doesn't recognize it at first like I said, but after that it's good to go.

Brightness - To me, the default brightness is perfect. If you do feel you want it darker or lighter, it's quite simple to change it. I haven't had to set anything up at all. It's ready to use right away.

Screen - Large, not glossy but matted. Very sturdy. One of my pet peeves of monitors is that there can be so much gloss that no matter how dark you make a room, you can always see something reflecting off of it including a mirror image of your own face. You won't have to deal with that here. My monitor faces 5 tall vertical windows, which at times has sun blaring through them and I can still see everything without having to cover the windows.

Buttons - On/Off button is off to the right corner and lights up when on. My last monitor's button got stuck and always stayed on. This button is a relief to me being that it doesn't bulge out and won't get stuck. Being that it's on the side, you don't notice it when watching movies. The option buttons are hidden away on the side as well but directly on the side of the monitor.

It's perfect for your kids for watching movies, it's perfect for work because it stretches and gives you more screen room, bright, no reflections, sleek, and just wonderful.

You won't regret your purchase.

I've been happy with my Dell ST2010 20-inch Flat Panel Monitor hooked up either to my Zino HD (PC) or to my Apple eMac; it works great for both computers. The wide screen is really nice compared with my Mac CRT screen. There are not many controls on this Flat Panel Monitor; so it is simple to set up and use. It is light; but feels sturdy. The colors and definitions of images are really good such that watching movies (DVD) or online both are very high quality and enjoyable.

I originally bought this monitor by mistake, thinking it was the Dell SX22?? model with the webcam built in to use with my Apple computers. I sent it back, got the right model but it was not compatible with Macintosh products. I reverted to this model and it works very well. Works great. Just keep in mind that this is NOT a "widescreen" filter.

Also keep in mind that, while nobody to the side (like the nosy person in the seat next to you on the airplane) will be able to see what's on your screen, anybody/everybody BEHIND you will. So, people can still look over your shoulder from behind and get a clear view.

But, it is a great help to me in my travels and at meetings.

hazy - Fussy buyer -
The product fits well, thats about it. It does give privacy at wider angles. But, as long as you are looking thru it, at the screen, it makes the display slightly out of focus. This little haziness alone is enough to cause a headache. After one full work day of use (10 hours), I had to throw it away. I was charged for this and they sent me 3 screens altogether, although i wanted only one. So, it was misleading to say one piece cost , when in fact it doesnt. So, i ended up throwing all 3 of them.

I am very disappointed in this privacy panel. I don't feel like it does anything. If you look at from a perfect 90 degree angle it works. Any other angle it does nothing. It also makes the screen a lot darker and harder to read. I bought this for work but it was a waste of money.

Samsung SyncMaster 245BW 24-inch LCD Monitor Review

I absolutely love the crisp, sharp detail, bright whites and black darks on this monitor. I use it as a second monitor attached to a laptop. I use it to process digital images from spacecraft, which contain lots of black black space and bright whites. The range of contrast that this monitor can produce is a thousand times better than my laptop's screen -- whites are much brighter, blacks are darker, and all of the detail is crisp.

The reason I can't give it five stars is because, like several other reviewers, after some time (not quite two years in my case) it suddenly began flickering. The warranty is three years, and Samsung repaired it under the warranty with no hassling; it was really a very painless process of reporting the problem on the Web, printing out a prepaid UPS shipping label, bringing it to UPS, and waiting. I received an email from Samsung within a couple of hours of its arrival at the repair location, and less than 48 hours later it had been repaired and put on the UPS truck to come back to me. But since all shipping was ground, the whole process did take more than two weeks. Because this is only a secondary monitor, I was able to cope without it, but if this had been my only monitor, I would have been pretty exercised about the delay. And I'm not sanguine about its survival much beyond its warranty period. But it will be beautiful -- and affordable -- while it lasts.

Bought the Samsung Syncmaster 245BW in 2008. This 24" widescreen (16x9 format) monitor has been just perfect. I use it for hours daily and it has never had a single hiccup, great image every time I turn it on. I'm picky about display quality and color, this one is as good as any LCD monitor I've ever seen, just as clear as the (expensive) LCD display I use at work.
The resolution is 1920x1200, so it's a widescreen.

No longer available new, it's been replaced by (less expensive) Samsung models, but at the time this was 0 at Costco. Since this one's been just outstanding I would not hesitate to buy (or recommend) another Samsung.

I bought 9 of these displays for my artwork.

The viewing angle (vertically) is inferior to other displays -- there are distinct color change as one changes the vertical viewing angle.
The monitor does not reset correctly if an Intel/XP computer powers-up AFTER the monitor (an analog to digital switching problem?)-- ugly yellow striations appear on the display -- re-starting the diplay fixes the problem (I use DPMS to do this).
Of the 9 I have had two failures: one quite early (warranty replacement was very good) and now a second one has gone bad.

The price is good, though the price fixing scandal (a 0M fine?) worries me. But there is only three real sources of LCDs : Samsung, LG/Philips and Acer.

I have owned this monitor for about 6 months now. I run a dual monitor setup that includes a Samsung 244T which is about a year and a half older. I hear many people talk about the difference of the viewing angle between the two and how it makes a huge difference and that they have to move their heads around to make sure they are getting the hot spot on the screen with the 245BW. I look at a 244T which has a 178 viewing angle and this monitor which is at 160 everyday for hours right next to each other. If price was not an option I would still probably get this one over the the 244T. This may be because the 244T is not a current model but when price is added into it, I can't see the 245T being worth a 0+ difference in cost. The 244T did come with magic rotation and the 245BW did not and that can be a nice thing to have for some although I do not use it myself.

With that said, this is all very subjective and both monitors are excellent. Ever since owning these monitors, I would never own another brand of monitor. Whether you get the T model or the BW or some other less expensive model, do yourself a favor and buy a Samsung and you will be happy with your purchase.

Things I wish I knew about this before I purchased it through the Amazon site:

1) The cheapest secondary vendor Amazon contracts this item through is Tiger Direct (I purchased it at ,699 for the new nonfurbished model in the summer of '05). When I originally ordered this, shipping calculated out to be 0! OK, I thought... expensive, but maybe that's just how Tiger Direct gets you, and the overall price is still killer for any 42" plasma. WRONG. It is Amazon that is taking the cut as the middleman (or at the least miscalculating). I ended up going through Tiger Direct directly, and for the same exact product, they charged me the same great price, and 5 on shipping. Long story short, I had to go through a lot of hassle to turn around the Amazon order mid-shipment, get a refund on that, but the TV I got from TD is here and looks amazing.

2) Know that this is an INDUSTRIAL grade TV, and that is why they are able to price it the way they are. That means:

a) No coaxial connection in the back. That meant I had to run down to RadioShack and buy expensive component connections for inputs through the cable box and DVD player, ended up costing me 0.

b) No internal speakers. Had to run down to Circuit City to buy a 0 soundsystem (which IMHO was still worth it and something I would have wanted anyway). Had trouble with the sound, so had to pay the tech guy extra to rewire it (turned out to be a simple mistake on my part).

c) Comes with no stand or mount!!! What you are buying is pretty much a standalone screen which would ideally be wall-mounted. Right now it is leaning against the corner wall a little more precariously than I would like to see it. I will be purchasing a used pedastal off eBay, which is nice because it is only (same model retails for over 0 new by my research). I did have to call the Panasonic 800 line to confirm that it would fit this model (and then had to be transfered to a special line that handles industrial TV's). Stands and mounts that support a model of this size are more expensive than I would have guessed (stands avg 0-300 retail, wall mounts that support 42" 0-400+).

Just wanted to make people aware of these issues before they bought. Even given all the extra costs and hassle to me, I would still say it was a financially worthwhile purchase, considering that other 42" plasmas of comparable quality retail for at least a thousand more (and I got a greater soundsystem for my dollar). That's why I still gave it 4 stars. But just know that if you are trying for a simple plug-and-go TV, this is not it... but if you are willing to go the extra mile to get an incredible plasma screen TV at a rock bottom price, it's not a bad purchase (through TD, not Amz).

Cons: ED only; burn-in concerns

I've been researching HD-compatible TVs for more than six months now - plasma, LCD, DLP, LCD projection, LCoS, and of course CRT. This TV came out the clear winner for several reasons:

1. Contrast: there's nothing that I hate more than greyish blacks in dark scenes. This TV is a superstar when it comes to black level performance. You get CRT-deep blacks with this TV.

2. Resolution: ironically, the fact that this is an EDTV (vs. HDTV) makes DVDs look *a lot better*. There's no video rescaling done on the images coming from the DVD, so what you get is a pristine picture. With an HDTV, the image has to get scaled up to HDTV resolutions (or even non-16:9 resolutions like 1024x678 with rectangular pixels), and so image quality is lost. With this Panasonic baby, however, there's none of that.

3. None of the stuff I don't need: the lack of tuners and inputs isn't a bad thing...you can completely customize the TV with the set of inputs that you need based on the video sources that you have. Need HDMI? OK. DVI with HDCP instead? No problem! Complete input flexibility!

Of course, nothing is perfect. Here are the issues that I see with this TV:

1 Burn-in concerns: This is a not a problem that is specific to this TV, but rather to plasma TVs in general. I'm worried about burn-in due to "Anamorphic Widescreen" DVDs. Most widescreen movies are not 16:9, but rather 2.xx:1 (I can't remember the exact ratio). This means that even with a 16:9 TV like this, you'll see black bars at the top and the bottom of the image. There's nothing you can do to get around that, because these black bars are embedded in the 16:9 video that DVD players output. So if you want to avoid burn-in, you'll have to zoom in the image from your DVD player (image gets stretched and cropped, so it becomes less sharp), or one of the TV zooming functions (aspect ratio goes out of whack, such that people's faces become thinner). Again, this is not a problem with this particular TV only, but with all plasmas.

2. EDTV: I'm still kinda bummed out that I can't see the finest of fine details in HD broadcasts (though the image still looks absolutely spectacular). Honestly, this one isn't that big of a concern. Most people can't tell anyway.

In short: go buy this thing now!! If you're looking for a plasma TV, stop researching...this is it!

First, because I needed a monitor NOW, I ended up buying this monitor locally and paying about ... more for it than if I had bought it from Amazon (after shipping, rebates, and taxes).

Second, this is a very nice monitor. I'm hooked up via the DVI connection, so that might make a difference if you use the standard monitor connection. Pictures on the monitor are absolutely beautiful. Things like video clips and DVD playbacks look just fine (I've still done very few of those). Text, on the other hand, looks somewhat grainy (it varies from screen to screen), though it's still quite acceptable. I think this is actually a function of the dot-pitch for the monitor being larger than what my old CRT's was. This graininess can be mitigated by loading Microsoft's Clear Type in Windows XP and using the tuning utility. Also, make sure you adjust the Contrast and Brightness (turn the Contrast all the way up and then turn the Brightness down until blacks actually appear black (with Contrast at 100, my Brightness is at 25)). The display area of this monitor is actually somewhat bigger than what was displayed on my old 19" CRT (though the rated 18.1" is theoretically the same). So, if you want, you could also increase your font size for better viewing.

One other thing. The monitor is back-lit and comes set to 100% illumination. Unless you're looking at this thing in a highly lit room, you can probably turn this off entirely (use the "ECO" button on the bottom of the column of control buttons). At a minimum, you can definitely turn the backlighting down to, say, 70% (probably more).

One thing I do wish the monitor had is some type of swivel feature. You can tilt the angle of the display to your heart's content. But, there's no way to turn it from landscape to portrait mode. Also, and I should have thought of this before I bought it, there's no place to put the center speaker in a 5.1 speaker setup. With my old CRT, I just rested the speaker on top. Since there's essentially no depth to this monitor, that's impossible. On the bright side, there's plenty of room behind the monitor for that same speaker. :)

One final note: The "Utility" CD that comes with the monitor is totally useless. All it has on it is a DOS, Windows, and Mac version of a test screen. It doesn't even come with a monitor INF file. When I plugged the monitor in via the DVI port under XP, Windows changed over to a standard LCD screen driver (everything worked fine, it's just not fully accurate). You'll definitely need to go to Sony's web site and download the proper INF file.

According to Sony's spec for the LCD. The max resolution is only 1280x1024. Not sure where these guys got their numbers from. Office Depot doesn't even list this on their site.

Have had this monitor for about a month. Nothing to the setup, except not real clear on which output cable to use for your particular system(standard or DVI ouput). Very clear and precise images for text and graphics. For what we use it for, the built- in speakers are more than adequate. Had no problem recognizing volume and mute inputs from a Logitech cordless keyboard. The size footprint for this monitor vs our previous 17" CRT is awesome. The overall appearance is outstanding. No complaints whatsoever!

Completely unsatisfied with this. The built-in speakers probably added to the price, which I already thought to be too expensive. If I had waited a few months, I could have gotten a way better and bigger monitor for over 0 less.

I am currently in a dormitory and strapped for space. I wanted a light, small, LCD TV that could play DVDs. This combo player is perfect for its pricing and to meet the needs of a small living space while providing a decent screen size.

My only complaint is the unattractive remote controller but for purposes of practical usage, there is nothing wrong with it.

The DVD player is indeed a progressive scanner, and it even plays MP3 CDs and VCDs, which a plus for those consumers who want to utilize any single product for as many versatile uses as possible. The speakers, while the low-tones are sometimes muddled, provides a crisp sound in the mid and high tones. For those looking for MP3 playback, the bass level and detail is reasonable for a electronic product not made primarily for audiophiles.

Unlike alot of LCD TVs made at 20 inch or smaller, analog cable T.V. signals are not smeared, shaky, or dull in colour. Although admittedly digital signals looks much better for LCDs, the analog for this t.v. is watchable.

All in all, for the price, this LCD TV/DVD combo has great functionality.

DVD player doesn't last - Catherine Kilbourn - Ohio
I was initially happy with this TV due to its nice picture, size of unit and weight. The convenience of a DVD player built right made it look clean and less hassle with cords and hookup. I didn't use the DVD player that much but when I went to use it after the 90 day warranty, it would not read the disk. I found a repair shop and was told the whole DVD unit needed to be replaced but only the part was covered. The labor of 0.00 was not covered. I called the Sylvania company and they said "Sorry, we can't help you." I opted not to get it repaired because I could buy a DVD player for around .00. I would not recommend this TV.

The picture and sound for this t.v. are good, but after having it for only one month and only using it a couple of times the DVD player broke. Sometimes the DVD won't go in; sometimes it won't come out. It's a gamble every time I want to watch a movie. I took this to a warranty service center and spoke to the technician. He told me basically you get what you pay for. It wouldn't even be worth it to fix the DVD player because they have trouble getting the parts and I would have to pay the labor costs, which would be approximately 0. Some warranty! He recommended just hooking up a regular DVD player, which is what I had to do. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

The DVD player in my TV broke after 2 months. I had only used it twice.

Dealing with Funai has been stressful to say the least.

I have talked to 5 customer service reps. at their 1-800 number and two managers, and my TV that broke under the miniscule 90-day warranty is still broken.

I have spent money faxing receipts to Funai. I have spent time emailing receipts to Funai that bounced back because they gave me the wrong email addresses.

I did not have my TV for a month because it was in a local, ghetto service shop for a month. I called them after a few weeks. They told me they had ordered the part. I called them after a month, and they told me the part was not available and that I would have to call Funai. I picked my TV up from this shop because Funai said they would replace it, but now I am getting the run around from Funai when I actually call to schedule a pick-up.

My unit has been broken for 3 of the 5 months I have owned it, and I couldn't even use the functioning TV part for the month it was in the service shop NOT BEING FIXED.

And, yes, I like the TV. That is why I am so frustrated that it broke and that their service center is the so annoyingly unprofessional.

I had a mere Phillips DVD player that broke and they sent me a newer model NO QUESTIONS ASKED because they didn't make mine anymore. And, I got to keep the old one!

BUY PHILLIPS INSTEAD OF FUNAI, especially if you have high blood pressure!

I THINK THIS IS A GREAT SMALLER SIZE TV AND NOT TOO EXPENSIVE. I HAVE THIS ON MY KITCHEN COUNTER AND REPLACED THE OLDER ONE WITH A PICTURE TUBE THAT TAKES UP TOO MUCH SPACE. THE PICTURE IS CLEAR AND THE SOUND IS GOOD. NOT AS GREAT AS MY SONY IN MY BEDROOM BUT THAT'S A SONY NOT THIS. I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS TV TO ANYONE WANTING A SMALLER TV THAT USES LESS SPACE. MY SON HAS HAD ONE OF THESE TVS IN HIS KITCHEN FOR OVER A YEAR AND LOVES IT. THIS IS WHY I BOUGHT ONE.

this is a great product... straightforward directions, wonderfully executed concept. IF... you have a stud or cement walls. we were unable to find a stud in the location we wanted to hang the monitor, so we thought we'd use the included anchors to hang it from the drywall. unfortunately, the anchors that are included are only for cement, so we had to go purchase special heavy-duty drywall anchors. i purchased a few different kinds and only one fit through the pre-drilled holes. it was a minor inconvenience and the product is great.

I bought a 17inch HP monitor more than 10 years ago, and had used it until I purchased this 17inch flat panel monitor. No problems with the HP, BUT it did take up a lot of space. I am "computer challenged" so really can't rate this Dell from a technical stand point. I just know that it doesn't take up much space and the screen is very clear. Also, there is no "black" space on the edges, which was beginning to creep in with the old HP monitor. I am very pleased with the purchase.

A local library bought new Dell computers with new 17 inch Dell LCD monitors. I've used them and found that every one they bought looks terrible. Yellows used to highlight database selections are displayed as white like the background and brightness is uneven at different viewing angles. I wish I could have given a 0 star rating. These problems are not unique to Dell LCDs. These are common problems I have seen on LCDs.

The Dell LCD monitors at my work also have terrible viewing angle problems. The picture fades when viewed at the wrong angle.

Save the picture tube! Picture tube (CRT) monitors look much better than LCDs.

I got this in August 2004. It arrived quickly--sooner than originally anticipated. Great job Amazon. I sent in the Rebate form to Sceptre confirmed receipt. Still no rebate and paperwork was received by them well within rebate period--all necessary documentation provided. Not one word from them (it is now November). So if you are buying this expecting the rebate--just know that it might not come through for you. I missed asking for Amazon to give me a price break due to the price dropping so am stuck with higher price than expected. Still a good LCD Monitor--no complaints in that regard. Do not hesitate at the current price at Amazon. It was the best for the price with clear picture & no problems with drivers for my computer setup on Win98.

Apparently, this company knows there is a faulty part in this "line" of units, but refuses to take responsibility. My friends bought a similar unit prior to my purchase. Just after the one year anniversary, the unit failed. I am now just past one year and am having the same failure. The company offered to fix my friends unit for 0, knowing they have a faulty component, why should there be a charge?
So far the company is disputing when I purchased my unit(?) and I've sent them a fax of my invoice. The fact remains I have a faulty unit that I can't shut down for fear it won't start up again. Shame on Sceptre for not standing behind their product, they should have done a recall or made some other arrangement to fix the units.
Amazon should be more aware of the lax policies with this provider. They(Sceptre) claim you(Amazon) purchased this moniter in 2004 and would not have had it in your inventory when I ordered it November 22, 2005.
I am discusted with companies thinking a fairly expensive purchase is disposable within one year!

Within 9 months of purchasing this monitor a thin red line appeared that ran from the top of the monitor to the bottom. When I contacted the company for repairs the customer service was terrible. I was NEVER able to reach a live person, was constantly disconnected, and informed the only way I could be guaranteed that my product would be accepted for repair was to return it in its orginal packaging (9 months later mind you). I would not purchase this product again purely based on service issues.

This was a great deal on a wall mount compared to other units available. It secures solidly to the wall. The double articulated arm allows optimal positioning. The only gripe I had was with the screw knob that mounts the monitor bracket to the arm. I had a hard time tightening the knob for fear of stripping the threads. It took some trial and error to get the vertical tilt right.

This is holding a 22" widescreen monitor without any trouble.

It's big, bright, fast, beautiful and did I mention it's big? I mean two side-by-side magnified A4 documents big. The 00 price is great too compared to other 30" models.

The reason why this monitor is considered obsolete by Dell is the complaints from videophiles about its lack of connectivity options. Specifically, dual-link DVI is the only way in. So, if you are planning on connecting game machines or BlueRay drives or HD cable boxes via HDMI, you are out of luck. But, why would you want to do that? Even full HD video only goes up to 1920x1080. This monitor does 2560x1600. It makes a lot more sense to pay 0 for a 42" 1080p LCD TV, which is bigger and better for viewing video anyway. This is an ultra-high-resolution monitor, pure and simple, and I love it for doing a good job there.

As the channel runs low on stock of this monitor, the Gateway XHD3000 30" Widescreen HD LCD Monitor becomes a better value. The latter, however, does not employ the S-IPS panel from LG, which is generally considered the best and most expensive LCD technology as of 2008. This is another reason why some 30" monitors are still a good buy in my mind even though 24" models are selling for under 0 nowadays. Those cheap monitors use TN panels, with poor color, contrast and viewing angles. Smaller S-IPS monitors (e.g. HP LP2475W 24in LCD Monitor 1920X1200 and Planar PX2611W 26-Inch Widescreen Digital/Analog with Height Adjust Stand (Black)) still cost 0+ and are becoming scarcer by the day due to the competition from its cheaper cousins. Even Samsung, which holds the patents for the middling S-PVA technology, has been introducing TN models.

I have the older shelf type stand for my karaoke TV and decided to upgrade to an LCD TV with a better stand. I was surprised how sturdy and heavy duty this stand is. It folds up small, and its easy to transport. The TV bracket screws to the back of your TV and it comes off of the stand so you can leave it screwed to the TV when you pack it up. It has an alan wrench to adjust the angle of the TV by loosening the top bracket. It has plenty of height and its very sturdy. The mic holders are metal with padding on them and they screw to the ends of the flat bar which is about 3" wide. The bar is welded so you have to use it but you dont have to use the mic holders since they screw to the ends. To break down, you lift the TV off, then lift the flat bar off with the mic holders attached, then pull the tripod legs up. I did not want the bar with the mic holders, so I had a shop cut off the bar on each side of the center bracket because I do not leave the mics out and I wanted the stand to fold up in one long piece, once I remove the TV. Now I just remove the TV and fold up the legs and its ready to go. I leave the flat bracket screwed on the back of the TV because it will attach to the stand bracket and has 2 set screws. The mic holders are nice if you like to use them. Overall its a very nice heavy duty stand for an LCD TV.

This model (Panasonic TH-42PX500U) is a lot more expensive than the Panasonic TH-42PX50U. The difference in prices in amazon for both items is a bit too much. This model is not available in most chain stores (Cicuit city, best buy etc.). A local store had both models and I could buy this model for a couple of hundred dollars more. I think for 0 more it is worth it, as it has the following advantage over the 50U.

1. 500 U has 6 speakers (2 bass-reflex woofers: 6 ohms, 120Hz-2Khz, 10%THD) (4 tweeters: 8 ohms, 500Hz-15Khz,10%THD) 26 W power. VS
50 U has 2 (16W, 6 ohms, 105Hz-20KHz 10%THD)

2. 500 U has BBE ViVA HD3D sound.

3. 500 U has a photoviewer (SD and PC card slots).

4. 500U has Sd card slot

5. 500 U has 2 rear and 1 front composite video input vs
50 U has only 2 rear ones.

6. 500 U has 2 rear and 1 front S-video input vs
50 U has only 2 rear ones.

Great set, except when viewing HD the commericals are very loud, especially the background music.

Also, was not told that in order to view HD I would be required to purchase a special cable box and the monthly cable fee would be greatly increased (Dish network)

We bought or Panasonic in October 2005. We installed a cable card but were unhappy with the lack of a DVR. Almost immediately the TV Guide feature failed, then the clock, then the re-call program data feature. We got a new tuner installed (took 4 weeks) and then failed again. After 4 service calls (they recorded 2 because "they don't count until we fix it"). In February, Comcast came out and pulled the 'not ready for prime time cable card' and installed a cable box. The TV's features were built around the cable card and the service guys told me they are nothing but trouble. The second tuner was defective from the factory so they put the lame one back in. By now it was April and 5 months after buying my new plasma I've had very little use of the features I paid for, So I got a hold of Panasonic and they told me about the jerk (Peterson) field service rep who plays God about who gets a new TV. Long story short, you need to hire an attorney when you purchase a Panasonic product. It's now June, and after taking my TV into their shop for 3 weeks it finally works. But I have a used TV I've barely used and never again will I buy Panasonic.

This is a great tv. The picture quality is supurb. The images from HD programs are especially impressive. I've had this tv for 2 months now and have no complaints.

Features that set this tv apart from others:

-PCMCIA slot - with a PCMCIA adapter you can use almost any camera memory card to view photos on your tv.

-Even standard definition channels look great on this tv. I know some people have had complaints that standard definition doesn't look as good as on a normal tv, but for wide aspect tv's, this one has great images in standard definition.

-Nice sound/invisible speakers - You can hardly tell that this tv has built in speakers. The tv itself is black and the speakers blend in perfectly. I used the tv speakers for a month before getting a new receiver and they worked great.

I researched pasma tv's for a couple months before selecting this model. The price is great (purchased for around ,700) and the picture quality is excellent.

I purchased this monitor about 13 to 14 months ago. It functioned superbly during most of that time. It worked great for typical applications, web browsing, movies, and most of the games our family plays. The downside is that it started having issues after about 12 months. It would black out and just suddenly come back on. This lasted for about 2 months until it just stopped working completely. Besides that this is a good monitor, I just don't know if I want to buy a new one every year to year and a half.

Pros:
*This is a 22" monitor with decent resolution for under 0 these says
*The image is nice and bright. It works fine in well-lit rooms.
*At its native 1680x1050 resolution, this monitor looks great, especially when using DVI, but it converts analog nicely.

Cons:
*The speakers are pretty poor quality. they are tinny with no range.
*Viewing angles are bad enough vertically than a flat-colored background on a web page will appear to be different colors at the top and bottom.
*Contrast ratio is poor. Blacks will look washed out, though it's better than a lot of LCD monitors I've seen.
*Other aspect ratios: no matter what resolution you feed it, the picture will fill the screen, which will make 4:3 aspect ratios seem stretched. Since a lot of games don't support a 16:10 resolution, this makes it ill-suited for gaming.

I have two Westinghouse LCM-22w2 monitors of which both are dead just after the warranty was over. One stopped working while it was under warranty (customer service is very bad, they told me that because I used it in my home office the warranty did not cover it because I was using it for commercial applications and that was not covered under warranty) and Westinghouse sent me a new replacement but it has stopped working now as well. I have learned my lesson, let Westinghouse stick to making power plants because they cant seam to make decent electronics.

I purchased this item from a walk-in store approx 18 months ago. The picture is fantastic! I connected using DVI and the image quality for editing DVDs worked well. The large screen allowed me to work with video production software with room for everything I needed to see.

That said, now the bad news. It quit working today while using it. No warning, just a quick fade to black and done!

For the money paid I feel it should last longer than just beyond the manufacturer's warranty period.

Since my warranty (assuming one year, but could be less) is up, I have to buy a replacement, I will go with another manufacturer.

The image and everything is fantastic with this unit, just didn't have longevity which in today's economy is not good in my opinion. Rising prices means consumers will expect quality for what they do spend money on. This wasn't it.

Philips 32PF5320 32-Inch Widescreen LCD HD-Ready TV Review

We bought this HDTV at Sam's Club. It had been previously purchased and returned sating it had bad sound. A local TV repair shop tested it out and nothing was found to be wrong. Sam's knocked 0.00 off thier price since it had been opened. I have tested this TV using every connection and found it to be an outstanding unit. I hooked up our Motorola cable top box to the HDMI input on the TV. The cable box (Charter Cable), has a DVI-D output, so I am using a DVI-D to HDMI converter cable. (Bought the cable at Wal-Mart for .00) It is a totally digital connection this way. The picture is fantastic even on non-HDTV signals.
I hooked up our DVD player using the Component video inputs and keep the DVD player on progressive scan, again a great picture.
I have not found any negatives except the remote which is small and hard to handle. I think they made it small/thin to go with the LCD thin TV design. My only complaint, which isn't really an issue for most, is that using composite or the HDMI input for the DVD doesn't allow selecting image formats. Some older DVDs use a native 16:9 display and are not widescreen enhanced, hence you get bars all the way around the image, much like a picture frame. However, most DVDs are widescreen enhanced so they fill the entire screen, or most of it. Also, when expanding an image, you would get less detail because it is "stretching" the video to fit the screen. BTW: Most HDTVs are not capable of changing formats when using anything but the RCA/SVHS hook-ups anyway.
I think most everyone would be happy with this HDTV!

Great TV...at first, then...big problems! - tekwar - USA
After 10 months of perfect viewing, this tv developed bugs. First, upon start-up the image would be blk/wht and only cycling the power would return the color. Then 2.5 months later, right when warranty ended, no sound upon start-up, too-bright image, a glitch, then sound comes on but image is blk/wht. After 4 min, the image returns to normal.
Philips tv's have quality issues. Do a search on youtube or google and you'll find many other unhappy Philips consumers.

I've had this screen for a year. As a European ex-pat currently living in the US, I was looking for something that was multi voltage and multi system (so that I wasn't lumbered with a big PC monitor on my return) and this was the only screen that fit my requirements.

Really pleased with picture quality and functionality. Downsides:
*) AV switching is a bit of a button fest - and not compatible with some multi-remotes (including, ironically the Philips RC9800i)
*) As reported by others, in HD mode, the screen blanks for a couple of seconds when 'overloaded' by a bright signal - this is particularly noticible in CSI when the cameras flash. I've tried different cables to no avail.
*) Not very loud on the HDMI - often find I have to crank it up past 80 for DVDs from an LG LDA-511

The frustrating thing is that all of these are fixable in software - but it doesn't look like there is an easy way to update the firmware.

So, overall, a quality versatile TV let down by a couple of simple flaws.

I bought this model because it works on US & European voltages and both PAL and NTSC signals which is a feature not many other models have.

The picture is very sharp on HD channels, but does show up the flaws on NTSC channels over my digital cable box (let's face it - there is a huge difference in picture quality between these two broadcasting standards)! I wouldn't recommend this TV for anyone who doesn't have a HD source.

PIP only works with certain inputs but this is no big deal.

PC-VGA input isn't fantastically sharp so also wouldn't recommend this as a primary monitor. Although 1024x768 is the official supported resolution for VGA input I set my PC input to 1366x768@60Hz and it works well.Note that there is some bleed over between HD component input and VGA output - when the VGA cable is plugged in it gave a little picture and sound interference when viewing the HD component source.

Speakers aren't very powerful and sadly not detachable. I use my surround sound amp instead.

The HD component input has a 'bug' which results in the screen going blank for half a second (with an error "unsupported resolution") whenever there's a bright flash on screen in a HD resolution. I bought a HDMI cable and this resolved the problem but this might be an issue if you don't have a HD source with HDMI output.

Overall, though, this is a great TV with excellent picture quality with HD input and a good price. And the multi-voltage support is useful if you might be taking it abroad sometime.

It certainly adds a lot of clarity to my screen, and makes reading easier on the eyes. The downside is it does reflect things that are on this side of the screen. I have found that I don't really notice that I can see my reflection; however, it would be nice if it took care of both sides of glare.

well i don't know about anyone else, but iv'e never had a second of trouble with mine. works great every time all the time. computer games look awesome, can switch between tv and computer easily or watch tv in the picture in picture while writing a review on the computer like i am now. totally recommend it. can watch movies on dvd player with the tv speakers or watch them on the computer and use the computer speakers. my computer speaker setup is better so i use that. all around versital and well worth it.

Purchased this LCD TV For around 0.00 and it is great for viewing tv and Gaming. Although its far from the best as its only EDTV It still is a great choice if you want a cheap LCD TV. We bought a refurbished model with a 3 month warranty. We kept the TV in a room where it got very little use but we were happy with how it looked and its usability. After 4 months, the volume got stuck on VERY LOUD. Magnavox tech support talked me through but nothing worked. I took it to the service center they recommended. For they soldered some loose connections, gave me a 1-month warranty. I brought it home yesterday and it appears to work now. I will not buy another Magnavox TV or another refurbished product.

This wasn't the most expensive dual monitor stand but it has a lot of great features. I actually got this for a single monitor but I needed it for more height for my wife's Mac Mini in the kitchen on our island. She stands at the computer checking email and looking up recipes and such and the monitor on the table was just too low. This gets it right up where it needs to be. Great solid construction, easy to assemble and some nice features like the quick release brackets and the cable management features. I highly recommend this stand.

I mounted 17" and 22" Monitors to them, they are very stable and have good adjustability. Although the base does take a little more space than I would want it to, I understand it is a necessary component for stability. Overall, I am extremely pleased with this product, the workmanship and quality are great and I highly recommend it.

This monitor is not worth the grief to save a few bucks. Mine arrived defective. "Tech support" would have been a joke except I was not laughing after spending hours trying to solve the problem alone. They admited that they had no idea and no suggestions. Pay the extra bucks and get a REAL monitor.

I did a lot of searching for a 24 inch monitor and finally settled on this one. After reading many reviews it is clear for most monitors the likelihood of a bad one ranges about 3 to 4 percent and the likelihood of dead pixels is 10 to 20 percent. Note that this monitor has a three year warranty. Most others are only one or two years. I am happy to see this one has no dead pixels.

Having moved from a 17 inch monitor the first impression was what a giant! One thing I love is that I can look at my work area and have all my desktop icons in view on the left. And I can have a number of different folders open with them all in view.

The view is crisp and bright and the resolution is great. Even small text print is sharp. And there is little brightness shift with view angle. The monitor has both elevation angle and height adjustment. The height adjustment is spring loaded so moving it is easy but it could be a little smoother. The monitor rotates horizontally smoothly on a concealed "lazy Susan" and tilts smoothly in elevation angle. Both require some pressure so the monitor does not move from desk vibrations and being bumped. Display adjustments are viewed on the screen and changes are made with buttons on the lower right side of the screen frame. The main complaint I have is that it is hard to see the small buttons while you are making adjustments. There are two power switches. The main is on the back which can be left on and one on the front with a blue light is handy for everyday use.

To be able to move the cursor over this large screen you will definitely need a cordless mouse. Still you will need a lot of space to move the mouse. For that reason I have found the Logitech cordless thumbball to be the ideal mouse. And to use this large monitor you will need a video accelerator capable of 1920 by 1200 pixel resolution.

This otherwise great monitor has what I consider to be a flaw, though it is probably by design. This was not Samsung's top of the line monitor, it was a little bit cheaper. I bought it brand new when it was the going thing and paid around 0 for it. It is indeed crystal clear, with bright contrast and nice colors. And so it deserves more than 3 stars for all the other good qualities, but the issue has just become a sore spot that won't go away.

The problem is the viewing angle. It's really specific, and not optimal. Your eye level has to be above the center of the monitor for optimal viewing. If you are in a tall chair, everything looks fine. In my desk set up I have it angled all the way down (as if it is looking at my neck), but it's not quite enough. And let's say you play a movie and sit back on the couch and your eye level is way below center. The the contrast reduces greatly; like by 30-50% depending on the angle! And if you go even lower you can see the colors starting to reverse like on the old laptop LCDs of the late 90's. I've had this monitor since 2007, and it still bugs me to this day. This will become my side monitor very soon.
